(The Center Square) – A new public opinion poll says Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker remains low on the list of voters’ preferred choices in the 2028 Democratic Party primary election for president.

The Center Square Voters’ Voice Poll was conducted by Noble Predictive Insights, a nonpartisan public opinion polling firm, from June 1-4, 2026 and surveyed registered voters nationally.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris finished first with 27% of the vote among 1,013 Democrats who responded. 17% said they were not sure.

Next was California Gov. Gavin Newsom at 14%, former U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg at 11% and New York U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at 8%.

Pritzker and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear both came in at 2%.

Illinois Republican gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey said Pritzker is failing to account for taxpayers in his own state.

“He’s a trust fund billionaire. He’s never had to create. He’s never had to build, and now he has the opportunity to supposedly do that in Illinois, but he’s doing it off of the backs of the taxpayers,” Bailey told The Center Square.

Bailey said it’s clear that Pritzker’s aspiration is to run for president.

“The people in Illinois are struggling and they so desire relief. He just absolutely cannot bring himself to offer that relief because he doesn’t live in the same world as we do,” Bailey said.

Pritzker blasted President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans during a campaign speech at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition conference in Chicago on Thursday.

“The White House and Congress have fallen into the hands of grifters of false pride, purveyors of bigotry and hatred, spelunkers for misery,” the governor said.

Pritzker said corruption runs deep in the Trump administration.

“Families are being deprived of food and health care and housing so that Trump’s thugs, and I mean thugs, can hand out contracts and tax breaks to the wealthiest and the well-fed,” Pritzker said.

The margin of error for The Center Square Voters’ Voice Poll is +/- 1.93%.
