MONEE — The Monee Village Board on Tuesday, May 13, 2026, approved a $455,580 payment to Metropolitan Corporation for ongoing construction at Fireman’s Park, advancing the second phase of improvements at the village’s growing recreation complex.
The payment, processed as Pay Request No. 2, covers work completed during the pay period ending April 30, 2026, the village administrator told the board in presenting the item. He said the Farnsworth Group, the village’s engineering consultant, and village staff had reviewed the invoice and found the work to be in substantial compliance with the contract and engineering plans, certifying it for payment.
The board action requested was a motion to approve the payment to Metropolitan Corporation in the amount of $455,580. Following a motion and a second, the board approved it on a 6-0 roll-call vote.
The payment continues a multi-phase buildout of Fireman’s Park. According to Mayor Therese Bogs’s State of the Village remarks earlier in the meeting, the park’s first phase was completed in September and included a football, soccer and lacrosse field; two sand volleyball courts; a youth baseball field with a retractable pitching mound and two batting cages; bleachers; a concession stand with restrooms; a new parking lot; an ADA-compliant playground; and connecting ADA sidewalks. A pet “micro pantry” was also installed. Trustee Heidi Gonzalez noted during the parks and recreation report that the Fireman’s baseball field recently held a grand opening.
