The Rich Township varsity baseball team powered past Crete-Monee on Thursday, utilizing a relentless offensive performance to secure an 18-2 conference victory in four innings.

Rich Township’s bats were hot from the start, as the Knights scored seven runs in the second inning and added nine more in the third. The visitors recorded 15 hits on the afternoon, showcasing a balanced lineup where nearly every starter contributed to the scoring surge.

Khyre Burnette led the charge for the Knights, finishing a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Landon Hughes also had a standout game, driving in five runs and finishing 2-for-3. J. Bohannon and B. Fergerson each added three and two RBIs, respectively, helping the Knights maintain pressure against a struggling Crete-Monee defense.

Crete-Monee managed to put runs on the board in the first and third innings, but the early deficit proved too steep. AJ Monegan Jr. provided one of the few bright spots for the Warriors, recording a triple and scoring one of the team’s two runs.

Jett Roman earned the win for Rich Township, limiting the Warriors to just two hits over four innings of work while striking out three.
