Thornwood Offense Overpowers Crete-Monee in 15-5 Conference Tilt

The Crete-Monee varsity softball team dropped the opening contest of their pivotal conference series on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, falling to a high-powered Thornwood squad by a score of 15-5 on their home diamond.

Entering the matchup, both teams boasted some of the most potent offenses in the state, with Thornwood averaging 15.1 runs per game and Crete-Monee averaging 14.1. The visiting Thunderbirds lived up to their season averages, keeping the pressure on the Crete-Monee defense to secure the double-digit victory.

The loss temporarily slowed Crete-Monee’s strong mid-season momentum, shifting their overall record to 12-6 and 10-4 in conference play. Thornwood, meanwhile, improved to a commanding 9-2 overall and 8-1 in league action. Despite the setback, Crete-Monee’s lineup remains anchored by standout Taleaana Ramirez, who boasts a .795 season batting average and a staggering 1.614 slugging percentage, keeping the team well-equipped for the remainder of the series.
