Lott Tosses No-Hitter as Neuqua Valley Blanks Crete-Monee 16-0
The Crete-Monee varsity baseball team ran into a buzzsaw on Saturday afternoon, falling 16-0 to Neuqua Valley in a four-inning, non-conference home matchup. Neuqua Valley senior pitcher Christian Lott completely shut down the Crete-Monee offense, tossing a four-inning no-hitter to secure the decisive run-rule victory.
Lott was virtually untouchable on the mound for the visiting Wildcats. He struck out seven batters and allowed just one baserunner—a walk to senior AJ Monegan Jr.—over his highly efficient 44-pitch complete game. Monegan managed to steal a base to get into scoring position, but Crete-Monee was otherwise unable to generate any offensive momentum.
Defensively, Crete-Monee struggled to contain the pressure applied by the Neuqua Valley lineup. The hosts committed five errors that extended innings and allowed five unearned runs to cross the plate. Neuqua Valley’s offense fired on all cylinders from the opening pitch, capitalizing on nine hits and eight walks. They jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning before breaking the game wide open with a massive nine-run surge in the second. Emmitt Briner and Andy Barkley led the charge at the plate, each recording a pair of hits and scoring multiple runs. Lott also helped his own cause with a hit, two runs scored, and an RBI.
Sophomore Wyatt Love took the loss for Crete-Monee, pitching the first inning while surrendering eight runs (three earned). Freshman A. Tomasevich and junior Robert Flores provided relief, but the Wildcats’ relentless lineup continued to produce, plating one run in the third and three more in the fourth to finalize the 16-0 margin.
