Quaderer Strikes Out Nine as Crete-Monee Baseball Cruises Past Argo 9-1

The Crete-Monee varsity baseball team relied on a masterful complete-game pitching performance from junior Keegan Quaderer and consistent offensive pressure to defeat Argo 9-1 on Wednesday afternoon. In a non-conference home matchup defined by steady scoring and solid defense, Crete-Monee methodically pulled away from the visiting Argonauts to secure the decisive victory.

Quaderer was in total control on the mound from the first pitch, working efficiently to keep the Argo lineup off balance. The junior right-hander pitched all seven innings, scattering just three hits and allowing a single earned run in the final frame. He demonstrated exceptional command, striking out nine batters while issuing only one walk on 82 total pitches. Behind him, the Crete-Monee defense was sharp, committing just one error over 32 total chances. Junior catcher Carlos Aguilar anchored the unit with nine putouts and an assist.

Offensively, Crete-Monee built their lead incrementally, applying constant pressure that eventually forced the Argo defense into five costly errors. The hosts struck first with a single run in the bottom of the opening inning, then created separation with back-to-back two-run rallies in the third and fourth innings. Senior Chris Schubbe provided the loudest bat in the lineup, finishing the afternoon with a team-high three RBIs and a run scored. Senior Keyshon James also put together a multi-hit performance, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run.

As has been their identity all season, Crete-Monee wreaked havoc on the basepaths. The team successfully converted 10 of their 11 stolen base attempts, constantly putting themselves in scoring position. Senior AJ Monegan Jr. paced the effort with three steals to go along with a double and two runs scored. The relentless attack on the bases combined with Quaderer’s dominance on the mound proved to be an insurmountable challenge for Argo.
