Love’s Shutout, Offensive Explosion Propel Crete-Monee Past Bloom 18-0

Staking an early claim with a massive first inning, the Crete-Monee varsity baseball team delivered a commanding all-around performance to defeat host Bloom 18-0 in a four-inning conference matchup on Thursday.

The visitors took control immediately, plating seven runs in the top of the first inning before adding four in the second and seven more in the third. Crete-Monee’s offense was highly efficient, generating 18 runs on just eight hits by consistently capitalizing on a struggling Bloom defense that committed eight errors. The visitors drew six walks and relentlessly pressured the basepaths, successfully stealing eight bases as a team to keep Bloom on its heels.

Bryce Milburn and Carlos Aguilar anchored the potent Crete-Monee lineup, each recording two hits and driving in a pair of runs. Milburn added a double and scored twice. Keyshon James, Tyler Burnett, Carter Graham, Keegan Quaderer, and Garrett Jemilo also tallied RBIs to round out the balanced offensive attack. At the top of the order, AJ Monegan acted as a consistent catalyst, drawing two walks, stealing two bases, and crossing the plate twice.

On the mound, sophomore Wyatt Love was in complete control. He pitched all four innings to earn the complete-game shutout, needing just 60 pitches to navigate the Bloom lineup. Love allowed only two scattered hits and a pair of walks while striking out three batters. His dominant effort stifled any chance of a response and cleanly secured the run-rule victory for Crete-Monee.
