Ramirez’s Historic Day, 22-Hit Barrage Power Crete-Monee Softball Past Bloom 20-8

Fueled by an unstoppable offensive performance, the Crete-Monee varsity softball team pounded out 22 hits and cruised to a 20-8, six-inning conference victory over host Bloom on Wednesday afternoon.

Crete-Monee set the tone early with three runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back, scoring in five of the game’s six frames. The visiting lineup was an absolute juggernaut from top to bottom, drawing 12 walks to go alongside their 22 hits. The onslaught culminated in a massive nine-run sixth inning that put the game well out of reach and triggered the run rule.

T. Ramirez authored one of the most dominant individual performances of the season for Crete-Monee. Reaching base safely in all six of her plate appearances, Ramirez went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, a home run, six runs scored, and six RBIs. She also successfully stole a pair of bases, acting as a constant catalyst in the middle of the order.

Ramirez had plenty of help in the unrelenting lineup. Debra Wilson was also perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a double and five runs scored. M. Robinson contributed four hits, including two doubles, and drove in three runs, while Raechel Lindsay went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Kaylee Slattery added four hits of her own to keep the offensive line moving.

Robinson earned the win in the circle for Crete-Monee, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing three earned runs on just three hits while striking out two. Slattery entered in relief to secure the final five outs of the contest.

Despite managing just four hits on the day, Bloom capitalized on 10 walks issued by the Crete-Monee pitching staff to push eight runs across the plate. The hosts battled to score twice in the third, twice in the fourth, and four times in the sixth, but they simply could not keep pace with the historic offensive output of the visitors.
