Monee Planning & Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting | April 15, 2026

Article Summary: The Monee Planning and Zoning Board of Appeals on Wednesday gave a favorable recommendation for Prime Diesel Repair to utilize outside storage for commercial vehicles awaiting service.

Prime Diesel Repair Key Points:

  • Prime Diesel Repair requested a special use permit for outside storage at 25858 S. Sunset Drive, Unit #8.

  • The storage will be strictly for customers awaiting repairs or pickups, with no long-term truck parking operations.

  • The company confirmed they utilize Crystal Clean Company, a local Monee business, for the safe disposal of waste materials like used oil.

The Monee Planning and Zoning Board of Appeals on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, voted unanimously to send a favorable recommendation to the Village Board regarding a special use permit for Prime Diesel Repair.

Prime Diesel Repair, operating under its parent company SpaceX LTD, applied for the special use permit at the property located at 25858 S. Sunset Drive, Unit #8. The item had been previously continued from the board’s March 18 meeting, where no representative was present.

A representative for the business addressed the board to clarify the scope of the request, emphasizing that the outdoor space would not be used as a commercial truck stop and would solely service the existing facility.

“We’re just requesting a special use permit for outside storage, only for the customers that are awaiting service repair or pickups,” the representative said. “So no like truck parking operations are there. Just only to support our repair shop business.”

The representative noted that the shop provides trailer and truck repair, frequently servicing diesel engines and pickup trucks. He explained that they handle repairs for a specific fleet of approximately 100 trucks, which can sometimes lead to vehicles waiting in line for maintenance. The shop recently received nine trailers that all required inspections before returning to the road. The maximum wait time for a vehicle stored outside is typically “up to a week.”

Board member West inquired about the environmental impact of the repairs, specifically regarding the proper disposal of old oil and other waste materials generated by the shop.

“For those kind of materials, we call companies that are specialized for pickup disposal oils,” the representative replied. “Currently we’re using Crystal Clean Company. They are also, I believe, located in Monee. They usually come pick up those disposals.”

With no members of the public choosing to speak on the matter, the board voted unanimously to forward a favorable recommendation to the Monee Village Board for final approval.
