Monee Village Board of Trustees Meeting | March 25, 2026

The Monee Village Board of Trustees met on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, to approve major economic development agreements, amend local compliance codes, and authorize heavy equipment purchases for the Public Works Department. The board approved a massive $5.6 million TIF reimbursement agreement for the new Voortman USA manufacturing facility, authorized future salary increases for elected officials, and amended the village’s dumpster code to regulate soft-sided “bagsters.”

For comprehensive details on these topics, please read the full standalone articles. Other notable actions and reports from the meeting are summarized below.

Public Works Fleet Expands with Ford F-350s:
The board unanimously approved the purchase of three 2026 Ford F-350 4×4 Super Cab pickup trucks to accommodate the growing Department of Public Works. The village utilized the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC) to secure the vehicles from Sutton Ford. Each truck costs $53,840, representing a $7,170 discount off the $61,010 MSRP. The total expenditure of $161,520 was previously approved within the FY 2026 budget. Trustee Doug Horne noted the new trucks replace a previously requested dump truck to better handle incoming snow removal duties.

Final Major Payment Approved for Public Works Facility:
Construction on the new Monee Public Works Facility is nearing its final stages. The board approved Pay Application #16 to Professional Building Services (PBS) in the amount of $662,759.02 for work completed through February 20, 2026. Village Administrator Ruben Bautista noted that the payment was certified by the Farnsworth Group. Only one more anticipated payment remains for minor punch-list touch-ups.

Tractor Supply Grand Opening and MyJack Renovations:
Trustee Michael Wilson reported high anticipation for the Tractor Supply Company grand opening scheduled for Saturday at noon, noting the retailer will serve as a critical anchor store for the Towne Center footprint. In other economic news, Wilson reported that MyJack has wasted no time renovating the former Whiting building. Since closing on the property two months ago, the company has actively painted the interior and ground the floors of the 200,000-square-foot facility, demonstrating a strong commitment to maintaining the property.

Resident Raises Solar Farm Authority Questions:
During public comment, resident Linda Marshall asked whether Will County holds the authority to override local municipal zoning regarding solar farm developments. Marshall noted recent severe weather, including a tornado in Lake Village, Indiana, that decimated a local solar installation, raising concerns about biohazards and damaged farmland. Officials clarified that the recent solar farms sparking debate are located in unincorporated Monee Township, which falls under Will County’s jurisdiction rather than the Village of Monee’s direct authority.
