Article Summary: Monee Township officials authorized $4,000 in social service agreements to support educational scholarships in the local community. The funding will be split evenly between the University Park Scholarship Fund and the Monee Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund.

Scholarship Funding Key Points:

  • The University Park Scholarship Fund was granted a $2,000 social service agreement.

  • The Monee Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund was also granted a $2,000 agreement.

  • Both measures were passed unanimously in 4-0 votes.

The Monee Township Board of Trustees on Thursday, February 19, 2026, demonstrated its ongoing commitment to local education by unanimously approving a pair of social service agreements designed to bolster regional scholarship programs.

During the new business portion of the meeting, the board first considered a social service agreement to provide $2,000.00 to the University Park Scholarship Fund. The funding serves as a direct investment in the educational pursuits of local students. Trustee Terri L. Boles made the motion to approve the agreement, which received a second from Trustee Billy Morgan. The measure passed in a 4-0 roll call vote, with Supervisor Donna Dettbarn and Trustee James W. Young voting in favor.

Immediately following the University Park approval, the board evaluated a mirror agreement for the Monee Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund. The board authorized an identical $2,000.00 allocation for the Chamber’s scholarship initiatives. Trustee Morgan motioned to approve this second agreement, with Trustee Young providing the second. The board passed the motion unanimously, 4-0.

These social service agreements are part of the township’s broader community outreach and support framework. During the meeting, the board also briefly discussed the upcoming Village of University Park 100 Years of Black Excellence Expo, which was scheduled to take place two days later on Saturday, February 21, 2026. The agenda noted a discussion regarding a $300.00 sponsorship for the Expo flyer, further tying the township’s financial allocations to local community events.
