Oak Forest Demolishes Crete-Monee 15-0 in Four-Inning Rout
The Oak Forest varsity baseball team delivered a dominant, wire-to-wire performance on Monday afternoon, crushing non-conference visitor Crete-Monee 15-0 in a four-inning, run-rule shortened contest. Backed by a relentless offensive attack and flawless pitching, the Bengals overwhelmed the opposition from the very first pitch.
Oak Forest wasted no time establishing control. The hosts jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, immediately putting pressure on Crete-Monee starter Chris Schubbe. The game was blown completely open in the second inning when the Oak Forest lineup erupted.
Capitalizing on free passes and defensive miscues, the Bengals batted around the order and pushed seven runs across the plate in the second frame. The massive rally extended their advantage to 9-0, effectively putting the game out of reach.
The nightmare continued for the Crete-Monee pitching staff in the third and fourth innings. Oak Forest tacked on two more runs in the third and finished the afternoon with a four-run surge in the fourth, triggering the run rule to end the game early. The Crete-Monee pitching trio of Schubbe, Elijah Clemons, and Keegan Quaderer struggled to find the strike zone all day, combining to issue a staggering 12 walks while surrendering nine hits. The Crete-Monee defense also compounded the issue by committing four errors.
On the other side of the diamond, the Oak Forest pitching staff tossed an absolute gem. They silenced the Crete-Monee lineup, allowing just one hit over four innings while striking out six batters and issuing zero walks.
Senior AJ Monegan provided the lone bright spot for the Crete-Monee offense, breaking up the no-hitter by ripping a double in a 1-for-2 performance at the plate. However, the visitors simply could not string together enough offense or throw enough strikes to compete with the high-powered Bengals.
