MONEE, Ill. — The Monee Village Board of Trustees on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, unanimously approved two major contractor payouts totaling more than $956,000 to cover recent progress on the village’s road and sidewalk networks.
Village Administrator Ruben Bautista presented the fourth pay request from Iroquois Paving Corporation for the Industrial Drive and Cleveland Avenue Road Reconstruction Project. The board approved a payout of $886,457.37.
According to agenda documents provided by Robinson Engineering, the project has seen a total earned value to date of $3,663,387.12. The village is currently holding a 10% retainage of $366,338.71.
While the payout represents a significant municipal expense, Bautista informed the board that the village will recoup a portion of the funds from local businesses.
“There are a few of the partial owners on Industrial Drive and Cleveland that are actually paying for the roadway proportionate to their property,” Bautista said. “So even though these numbers show what the amount is, we’ll be receiving money back… from Iroquois Paving and from Northern Builders that are on that roadway.”
The board also unanimously approved the first pay request for the 2025 Monee Sidewalk Improvements. M&J Underground, Inc. was awarded $70,354.44. The total earned to date on the sidewalk project is $78,171.60, with $7,817.16 held in retainage.
Trustee Doug Horne, reporting for Public Works, noted that M&J Underground has already flagged the next phase of the project. Weather permitting, crews are scheduled to resume sidewalk construction on Will Center Road and Linden Avenue beginning the second week of March.
