Illinois Quick Hits: 15-year-old charged with machine gun possession
(The Center Square) – Two teens are facing weapons charges after Illinois State Police executed search warrants in Carbondale on Wednesday. A
15-year-old male was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a machine gun, and 19-year-old Shariah Davis was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm.
Both teens were detained pending their first court appearance.
FORMER COM ED EXEC, COOPERATING WITNESS GETS PROBATION
Former ComEd executive Fidel Marquez has been sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to pay a $50,000 fine after he served as a cooperating witness in two public corruption trials.
Marquez agreed to secretly record conversations for the ComEd Four case and the trial of former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan and the ComEd Four.
IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT CHARGING PROTOCOL ANNOUNCED
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office has unveiled a federal immigration enforcement response protocol to assess evidence and make charging decisions related to use-of-force incidents.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson said the protocol is aligned with his recent executive order to ensure potential violations of state and local law by federal agents are referred for review.
In order to prosecute a federal officer, the protocol says the state must meet its burden of showing that the officer does not have supremacy clause immunity.
