The Crete-Monee School District 201-U Board of Education on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, reviewed feedback from a staff survey concerning the 2026-2027 school calendar.
Dr. Perkins reported that the survey reflected a divided staff on how to handle emergency closures. The results showed 42.2% of respondents preferred using makeup days at the end of the year in June, while 41.8% preferred using designated flex holidays during the year to avoid extending the school year. Approximately 16% of respondents indicated no preference.
“The district carefully reviewed all comments and appreciates the time and thought that went into providing feedback,” Dr. Perkins said, reading a communication sent to staff.
The calendar committee is expected to meet again to discuss the results and bring a final recommendation to the Board of Education at the February meeting. Additionally, the district is monitoring potential legislative changes that could make November 3, 2026, an official midterm election holiday.
