Monee Fire Truck Damaged
January 2, 2026/
The Monee Fire Protection District was working at a rollover accident on I-57 on January 1st about 1:30 pm. The fire engine was positioned at an angle to provide protection to the fire personnel and indicate the lane is blocked and there were several emergency vehicles on scene, all with warning lights activated.
However, the fire engine was hit by a car that failed to move over and reduce speed. No fire department personnel were injured. Additional ambulances were called to transport four people from the offending car to area hospitals. Please pay attention to your driving.
