Crete-Monee Board of Education Meeting | December 16, 2025

The Crete-Monee School District 201-U Board of Education on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025, successfully navigated a heavy agenda focused on long-term financial planning and facility management. The meeting was highlighted by the approval of a $73.4 million tax levy and the authorized sale of the Monee Education Center for $553,500. Jazz Ensemble Performance:
The meeting opened with a special musical presentation by the Crete-Monee High School Jazz Ensemble. The ensemble performed several holiday selections for the board and public. Superintendent Dr. Kara Coglianese and board members praised the students for their talent and leadership.

Personnel Report:
The board approved several personnel changes, including the hiring of Nichole Hay as a Special Education Teacher and Elaine Myszak as a Physical Education Teacher. The report also recognized the retirement of Vernon Reed, an NJROTC teacher at the high school, effective June 2026. Several student worker positions for the “Chrome Depot” technology center were also filled.

Athletic Achievements:
During board updates, it was announced that Crete-Monee has been awarded the regional hosting duties for both boys and girls basketball championships in February and March. Additionally, the district’s cheerleading squad recently took first place in a competition at Marian Catholic High School.

Holiday Community Outreach:
During public comment, CMEA President Christina Quinland highlighted the association’s recent participation in “Crete Country Christmas.” Certified staff hosted a craft table where local children made snowmen and colored Christmas cards. Quinland noted the association’s goal is to become more deeply connected to the local community.
