A 27-year-old man is in custody facing armed robbery charges after allegedly holding up a Frankfort gas station and attempting to hide in a fast-food restaurant restroom on Sunday, December 21, 2025.
The Will County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sufyan Farhan following the incident at the Circle K gas station located at 7654 West Lincoln Highway.
Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 7:48 p.m. Employees reported that a male subject wearing a mask entered the business and approached the front counter. The suspect reportedly brandished a knife, claimed he also possessed a gun, and demanded money from the cash register. After the employee complied, the offender fled on foot, heading eastbound.
Shortly after law enforcement arrived, an individual approached deputies and identified the likely suspect as a relative who had recently left their residence wearing a ski mask. In response to the threat, the Sheriff’s Office issued a reverse-911 alert advising nearby residents to shelter in place while an active search was conducted.
Deputies quickly located Farhan hiding in the women’s restroom of the McDonald’s located at 7215 West Lincoln Highway, just east of the crime scene. He was taken into custody without incident.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies recovered a “large amount” of U.S. currency from Farhan, and he was positively identified by the complainant.
Following the arrest, a K-9 deputy and partner, “Echo,” conducted a search of the area. The police dog located the suspect’s jacket and the knife believed to be used in the robbery in a field just west of the McDonald’s.
Sheriff’s officials commended the swift response and the coordination between the deputies and the K-9 unit.
“This incident highlights the professionalism, coordination, and dedication of our personnel in keeping our community safe,” the department said in a statement.
