The Monee Village Board of Trustees on Tuesday, December 10, 2025, paused its regular business to honor a local culinary institution. Mayor Dr. Therese Bogs recognized Frank Aprile, owner of Frankie’s Pizza, for 42 years of business in the village.
“We wanted to recognize his commitment to the village,” Bogs said. “It’s outstanding.”
Aprile, surrounded by family members, accepted a commemorative flag from the Mayor. He reflected on the long history of the restaurant, attributing its longevity to family support and loyal customers.
“I couldn’t have done it without family,” Aprile told the board. “My wife Jane, my mom who’s no longer with us did some recipes, and great employees through the years… and loyal customers.”
Aprile introduced his grandchildren, Ali and Millie, joking that they “love making pizzas” and represent the future generation of the business.
Trustees expressed their personal gratitude to Aprile. Trustee Scott Youdris shared a personal story, noting that Frankie’s was the first place he dined when moving to town over a decade ago and was the location where he received the phone call that began his relationship with his now-wife.
“Frankie is definitely a staple in town,” Youdris said. “We love you guys because of that and because of the great food.”
