Monee Township Board Meeting | Oct. 2025

The Monee Township Board met on Thursday, October 16, 2025, to handle monthly business, including the approval of the tax levy hearing schedule and various administrative reports. Supervisor Donna Dettbarn called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Trustees James W. Young, Terri L. Boles, and Billy Morgan were present. Trustee Deborah Burgess was absent.

Also in attendance were Clerk Bobby Lathan, Highway Commissioner David E. Deutsche, Assessor Sandra Heard, and Collector Ronald Poindexter. The Board voted 4-0 to approve the minutes from the September 18 meeting and authorized the payment of bills for the period of September 19 through October 16. The meeting adjourned at 7:42 p.m.

Assessor Disputes County Decisions:
Assessor Sandra Heard reported that she is working to resolve an issue with the Supervisor of Assessments. Heard expressed concern regarding what she described as “inconsistency in her decisions” regarding appeals submitted by the township. During Board Comments, Trustee Billy Morgan stated he would work to assist in a resolution regarding the issue.

America 250 Resolution:
The Board voted 4-0 to adopt Resolution 25-002. The measure formally supports the “Illinois America 250 Commemoration,” celebrating the 250th anniversary of the country.

Pantry Construction Bids:
Clerk Bobby Lathan reported that the bid invitation for the construction of the pantry was published in the Southtown on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. The Board discussed the pantry project schedule and bid schedule under Old Business.

Audit Extension:
During the New Business discussion, it was announced that the township auditors have filed for an extension for the 2025 Audit.

Assistance Statistics:
From September 12 through October 9, the township processed 22 intakes and seven applications for assistance. While no General Assistance funds were distributed, the township spent $2,363.28 on Emergency Assistance (EA). The food pantry served 66 residents during this period.

Supervisor Dettbarn announced several upcoming events for seniors:

  • Casino Trip: Scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

  • Halloween Party: Scheduled for Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

  • Holiday Brunch: Scheduled for December 3, 2025, at Cardinal Creek Golf Club in Beecher.
