Village of Monee Board Meeting | October 22, 2025

Meeting Summary:
The Monee Village Board of Trustees met on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, covering a range of topics from cultural heritage to infrastructure investment. A highlight of the meeting was a video presentation of the recent dedication of the Marie LeFevre-Bailly Park and statue, honoring the village’s namesake. On the business side, the board approved over $948,000 in payments for roadwork and the new Public Works facility. Trustees also greenlit a vehicle purchase for the Building Services department and approved a zoning variance for a resident.

New Life Physical Therapy Closing:
During public comment, Dave Kooyenga of New Life Physical Therapy announced that he will be closing his Monee business at the end of the year after serving the community for over 20 years. The board and Mayor Bogs expressed their gratitude for his service and regret at his departure. “You’ve taken care of me over the years several times, too. And I really sad to see you go,” Mayor Bogs said.

Residential “As Built” Approved:
The board approved an “As Built” letter request for a property at 25958 South Locust Place. This allows prospective buyer Santiago Vazquez Aquino to purchase the property, which is a residential home located in a C-1 Commercial District. The approval ensures that if the home is destroyed by more than 50%, it can be rebuilt as a residence, a necessary condition for the buyer’s mortgage.

Public Works Building Near Completion:
The board approved Pay Request #15 to Professional Building Services in the amount of $697,558.73 for the new Public Works facility. Administrator Bautista noted that the project is “winding down” and is “just about at the end of the payments.”

Geranium Lane Payment:
Trustees authorized the first pay request to Iroquois Paving Corporation for the Geranium Lane and Crete-Monee Road improvements. The payment totaled $250,774.67.

Hotel Renovations Tour:
Trustee Wilson reported that village officials recently toured the Quality Inn and Super 8 hotels to view ongoing renovations. The visit was part of ongoing discussions regarding TIF incentives requested by the owner, Ms. Patel. While impressed with the improvements, the board has not yet voted on any new financial agreements.

Personnel Move:
Following an executive session, the board voted unanimously to move Jim Paicz of the Building Services department to a full-time position. No other action was taken following the closed session.
