Monee Township Board Meeting | Sept. 2025

The Monee Township Board met on Thursday, September 18, 2025, to handle monthly business, including the approval of financial assistance reports and the scheduling of senior events. Supervisor Donna Dettbarn called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All trustees—Deborah Burgess, James W. Young, Terri L. Boles, and Billy Morgan—were present, along with Clerk Bobby Lathan and Collector Ronald Poindexter.

The Board voted unanimously to approve the minutes from the August 21 meeting and authorized the payment of bills for the period of August 22 through September 18. The meeting adjourned at 7:43 p.m.

Emergency Assistance Spending:
From August 14 to September 11, the township processed 12 intakes and nine applications for aid. While no General Assistance funds were distributed, the township spent $5,303.75 on Emergency Assistance (EA). The food pantry served 34 residents during this period.

Senior Events Scheduled:
The Supervisor’s Report outlined upcoming social events for local seniors. A casino trip is scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, 2025, followed by a Senior Halloween Party on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

Parade Participation:
Officials recapped their participation in recent community parades. The township received a “Certificate of Thank You” from the Village of University Park for joining their Back-to-School Parade. Additionally, Supervisor Dettbarn, Trustee Burgess, and Collector Poindexter represented the township in the Monee Fall Fest Parade on September 6.

9-11 Memorial Display:
During Board Comments, Trustee Billy Morgan informed the public and the Board that former Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has a 9-11 Memorial on display at the Joliet Courthouse.

Community Services:

  • Shred Day: Scheduled for Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

  • CPR Class: A class is set for Saturday, September 20, starting promptly at 8:00 a.m.

  • Youth Committee: The program began its fall session on Sunday, September 14.
