Village of Monee Board Meeting | October 22, 2025

Article Summary:
The Monee Village Board advanced several key infrastructure and development initiatives, including sidewalk improvements, a new vehicle purchase, and annexation plans for industrial expansion. Additionally, updates were provided on ongoing commercial projects like the new Tractor Supply Co. store and potential hotel renovations.

Development and Infrastructure Key Points:

  • Sidewalks: Construction has begun on sidewalk improvements along Will Center Road, Linden Avenue, and Margaret Street.

  • Vehicle Purchase: The board approved the purchase of a 2025 Ford F-150 for the Building Services department for $51,456.70, saving over $8,000 off the sticker price.

  • Public Works Building: A near-final payment of $697,558.73 was approved for the new Public Works facility, which recently hosted a successful open house.

  • Commercial Growth: Construction is progressing on the new Tractor Supply Co. and Rockland Plumbing facilities.

  • Annexation: The board is moving forward with annexing properties along Monee-Manhattan Road, including two parcels owned by Tomas Gintila, to incorporate them into TIF District 5 and the enterprise zone.

The Monee Village Board on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, authorized spending and provided updates on a flurry of activity across the village.

In infrastructure news, Public Works Superintendent Ed Johnson reported that sidewalk installation is underway this week. Crews are working on connectivity projects along Will Center Road, Linden Avenue, and Margaret Street, as well as replacing damaged panels throughout the village.

The board approved the purchase of a new 2025 Ford F-150 pickup truck for the Building Services department from D’Orazio Ford. By honoring the state bid price, the dealer saved the village over $8,000, bringing the total to $51,456.70.

Economic Development Director Bill Barnes updated the board on several commercial projects. Construction on the new Tractor Supply Co. is moving quickly, with walls up and roofing expected soon to enclose the building before winter. Additionally, Rockland Plumbing has broken ground on its new facility on Wilson Street.

“Owner Rocky Oiler is excited to relocate his business to Monee from Oaklawn,” Trustee Michael Wilson read from the report.

Administrator Ruben Bautista updated the board on the annexation of land owned by Tomas Gintila near the Amazon facility. The annexation of these parcels is a strategic move to include them in the amended TIF District 5 and the enterprise zone, paving the way for future industrial development.

“It would move right into… our future planning in that industrial area that we’re looking at north on Ridgeland Avenue,” Bautista said.
