  • Lighting Completed: The board approved a final payment of $55,531.10 to Utility Dynamics Corporation for lighting improvements along Monee Manhattan Road and Egyptian Trail.

  • Sidewalks Underway: A first payment of $289,737.06 was authorized for M&J Underground for the 2024 Sidewalk Improvement Program.

  • Project Catch-Up: Officials noted the sidewalk payment is for the 2024 project year, as the contractor had delayed billing.

The Monee Village Board on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, moved forward with payments for completed and ongoing infrastructure projects aimed at improving safety and walkability in the village.

Trustees voted unanimously to approve the final pay request of $55,531.10 to Utility Dynamics Corporation for lighting improvements on Monee Manhattan Road and Egyptian Trail. Village Administrator Ruben Bautista praised the project’s aesthetic impact.

“I hope everybody’s had a chance to take a good look and enjoy beautiful flowers and banners in the lighting itself along the Egyptian trail… look wonderful,” Bautista said.

During the discussion, Trustee Scott Youdris inquired about potential resurfacing for Monee Manhattan Road, noting its deteriorating condition. Bautista confirmed that discussions regarding the road and overpass are ongoing with county officials, though no final timeline has been set.

In a separate motion, the board approved a payment of $289,737.06 to M&J Underground for the 2024 Sidewalk Improvements. This marks the first payment for the project, which has earned a total of nearly $305,000 to date.

Bautista clarified to the board that this payment is “playing catch-up” for the 2024 program, as the contractor had held off on submitting their bill.
