Monee Township Board Meeting | August 2025

The Monee Township Board met on Thursday, August 21, 2025, to handle monthly administrative business and plan for upcoming fall community events. Supervisor Donna Dettbarn called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All trustees—Deborah Burgess, James W. Young, Terri L. Boles, and Billy Morgan—were present, along with Clerk Bobby Lathan.

The Board voted unanimously to approve the minutes from the July 17 meeting and authorized the payment of bills for the period of July 18 through August 21. The meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m.

Fall Fest Participation:
The Board finalized plans to participate in the Monee Fall Fest on Saturday, September 6, 2025. The township will utilize a truck from the Highway Commissioner’s Office to carry officials in the parade. Supervisor Dettbarn, Clerk Lathan, Collector Ronald Poindexter, and Trustees Burgess and Boles agreed to participate. Officials will meet at 10:30 a.m. to decorate the truck.

Shred Day Approved:
Trustees voted 5-0 to approve a budget of $1,200 for a “Shred Day” event. The service is scheduled for Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

CPR Class Cancelled:
A CPR class previously scheduled for August 23 was cancelled by the Red Cross. The Board noted the event may be rescheduled for September 20, 2025.

Emergency Assistance Stats:
During the Supervisor’s Report, Dettbarn noted that from July 15 to August 13, the township processed nine intakes and five applications. While no General Assistance funds were distributed, the township provided $4,866.17 in Emergency Assistance (EA). The food pantry served 52 residents during this period.

Financial Approvals:
The Board unanimously passed two financial motions:

  • Association Dues: Payment of $853.82 for Township Officials of Illinois membership dues.

  • Chamber Sponsorship: Approval of a $450 Social Service Agreement to sponsor the Monee Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing/Award Dinner.

Uniform Issues:
The Board discussed asking a vendor to redo caps and shirts purchased for township staff due to printing issues.

Board Member Recognition:
During Board Comments, Trustee Billy Morgan recognized Trustee James W. Young. Morgan reported seeing Young serving as an Honor Guard at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on August 18, thanking him for his commitment to the military. Supervisor Dettbarn also shared the personal news that her sister had passed away.
