Village of Monee Board Meeting | September 10, 2025

Meeting Summary: The Monee Village Board of Trustees met on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, for a session focused on infrastructure spending and administrative housekeeping. The board awarded nearly $700,000 in contracts for sidewalk improvements and pond remediation to the lowest bidders. A significant portion of the meeting involved updates on hotel redevelopment negotiations, where the board rejected requests for upfront funding and exclusivity from a local developer. The board also confirmed the annual re-appointment of all major village department heads and celebrated the successful execution of the recent Fall Fest.

Public Works Facility Update:
Trustee Doug Horne reported that the new Public Works facility is nearing full completion. Punch list items are currently being addressed, and furniture assembly is underway. Staff tutorials on the new building’s systems are scheduled for next week, with an open house being planned for sometime in October.

TIF District 5 Hearing Continued:
The public hearing regarding the amendment to Tax Increment Finance (TIF) District No. 5, originally opened on August 27, was continued once again. Trustee John Henson moved to continue the hearing to the October 8, 2025 board meeting. The motion passed unanimously.

Property Tax Rebate Deadline:
Trustee Charles Rakis reminded residents that the deadline to apply for the Property Tax Rebate Program is fast approaching. The last day to turn in applications at Village Hall is September 26, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.

Firemen’s Park Payment:
The board approved Pay Request #13 for Piggush Simoneau Inc. in the amount of $114,213.38. This payment covers work completed on Phase 1 of Firemen’s Park during the pay period ending June 30, 2025.

Village Authorized to Bid on Property:
Following an executive session regarding the purchase of real property, the board voted to authorize the Village Administrator and/or Finance Director to attend a sale and submit a bid for the property associated with PIN # 21-14-17-402-016-0000. The motion passed with 5 ayes; Trustee Wilson was absent for the vote.
