MONEE — The Village of Monee’s new Public Works facility is nearing the finish line, with the Village Board approving another major payment for the project at its Wednesday meeting.
Trustees unanimously authorized pay request #13 in the amount of $566,134.16 to the project’s construction manager, Professional Building Services Inc. The payment covers work completed through July 10, including significant progress from contractors for concrete, masonry, general construction, and flooring.
Public Works Trustee Doug Horne provided a construction update, highlighting a critical milestone. “If you recall last time we met here, there was a discussion of a delayed electrical panel and it was on back order,” Horne said. “Well, I’m happy to report that that is being installed this week.”
With the panel in place, the factory startup of essential systems is scheduled for the week of July 28. A preliminary walkthrough for building staff is planned for the week of August 4.
“We’re hopeful to have occupancy of the building by mid-August,” Horne added. “The grand opening is yet to be scheduled. We’ll worry about that once it’s online.”
The payment request was reviewed and certified by the Farnsworth Group and village staff, who confirmed it met the project’s plans and specifications.
