Monee Township Board Meeting | June 19, 2025

The Monee Township Board met on Thursday, June 19, 2025, to handle monthly business, including the approval of building maintenance contracts and the scheduling of community health events. Supervisor Donna Dettbarn called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m., with all trustees—Deborah Burgess, James W. Young, Terri L. Boles, and Billy Morgan—in attendance, alongside Clerk Bobby Lathan.

The Board handled several administrative items, including the unanimous approval of the bills from May 16 through June 19. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.

Freight Traffic Forum:
During Board Comments, Trustee Billy Morgan announced an upcoming forum to discuss freight traffic in Monee Township. The meeting is scheduled for June 26, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Monee Elementary School. Morgan noted that comments made at the forum will become an official part of the meeting record.

Assessor Office Cleaning:
The Board voted 5-0 to approve a one-year cleaning contract for the Assessor’s Office with Imperial ProClean. The contract, valued at $7,500, began retroactively on June 6, 2025.

Community Events:
Officials reported on past and future events:

  • Shred Day: The June 7 event saw 36 drop-offs, an increase from previous events.

  • Vaccinations: A Will County Vaccination Mobile Van event is scheduled at the township for Wednesday, August 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • CPR Class: The Board approved scheduling a CPR class for Saturday, August 23, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

  • Parade: The township plans to participate in the Village of University Park Back to School Celebration and Parade on Saturday, August 16.

Renovation Update:
Under Old Business, the Board noted that renovations to the township building are ongoing. Some modifications are still in progress.

Uniform Policy:
Under New Business, the Board decided on a uniform policy for staff and elected officials. They will wear beige shirts accompanied by a cap.
