COUNTY APPOINTMENTS

Fire Protection District: Board approved county executive appointments to Manhattan Fire Protection District board.

Agricultural Committee: Approved appointment to Agricultural Area Committee with Member Judy Ogala abstaining due to conflict of interest.

Housing Board: New appointments confirmed to CDBG Home Advisory Board for community development oversight.

Sanitary District: Board positions filled for Bonnie Bray Forest Manor Sanitary District.

ROUTINE APPROVALS

Financial Actions: Three-item consent agenda included Stepping Stone payment authorization, University of Illinois cooperative funding commitment, and increased compensation for election judges.

Sheriff’s Budget: Approved funding appropriations for sheriff’s department operations.

Depository Designation: Midland Federal Savings and Loan designated as county depository institution.

Land Use Extension: Approved first extension of special use permit for Creek GoodNow 1 LLC by 17-4 vote.

MEMBER RECOGNITION

Sheriff’s Appreciation: Member Vince Logan thanked Will County Sheriff’s Department for providing security during Mother’s Day Walk for Pink Heels event with over 1,200 participants.

Missing Person Recovery: Speaker Jim Richmond praised collaborative effort by Will County Sheriff, Forest Preserve Police, Mokena Police and Fire Department in locating missing elderly man two miles deep in forest preserve.

Papal Connection: Member Kelly Hickey noted former Will County resident Robert Post’s election as Pope Leo XVI on May 8.

PUBLIC COMMENT

Quarry Opposition: James Drover urged board to rescind March quarry expansion approval, citing safety concerns and public opposition including 500-signature student petition.

UPCOMING MEETINGS

Next county board meeting scheduled for June 19, 2025. Committee meetings resume first week of June including Land Use and Development (June 5), Finance (June 3), Transportation (June 3), and Executive Committee (June 12).
