Oak Lawn Powers Past Crete-Monee in High-Scoring Affair
The Crete-Monee varsity softball team battled in a slugfest on Friday, ultimately falling to Oak Lawn by a final score of 22-6 in a non-conference matchup.
Crete-Monee showed promise early, plating two runs in the first inning and three more in the second to jump out to a 5-1 lead. However, Oak Lawn’s offense proved relentless, responding with a massive nine-run third inning to seize control of the game. Oak Lawn added four runs in the fourth and eight in the fifth to effectively close out the victory.
Despite the difficult result, the Warriors’ offense remained active throughout the contest, racking up 11 hits. Madison Myers had a standout performance at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Giselle Angulo also contributed significantly, tallying two hits, including a double, and driving in two runs. M. Robinson matched the offensive output with two hits of her own.
Defensively, the Warriors were sharp in the field, committing zero errors against a high-volume Oak Lawn attack. Kaylee Slattery handled the bulk of the pitching duties, working four and one-third innings.
The Warriors now hold a 5-24 record as they look to regroup for their next outing.
