The Crete-Monee varsity softball team unleashed a relentless offensive assault on Friday afternoon, cruising to a 22-5 non-conference road victory over Bremen in a four-inning, run-rule shortened contest. Highlighted by an 11-run second inning and a combined one-hitter from the pitching staff, Crete-Monee overwhelmed their hosts from the opening pitch.

The Crete-Monee lineup showcased remarkable depth and power, amassing 15 hits and drawing five walks while only striking out four times. After taking a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning, the offense exploded in the second, sending a parade of hitters to the plate to score 11 runs. They added three more in the third and capped the afternoon with a six-run fourth inning.

Marissa Robinson was a dual-threat powerhouse for Crete-Monee. At the plate, she went 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs scored, and a team-high four RBIs. Raechel Lindsay was perfect in the batter’s box, going 2-for-2 with a triple, an RBI, and a game-high four runs scored, while drawing two walks. Debra Wilson also turned in a flawless 2-for-2 performance with two runs and an RBI. Nadia Love added to the extra-base hit tally with a triple of her own. Once on base, Crete-Monee was aggressive, swiping 10 stolen bases as a team, led by two apiece from Taleaana Ramirez, Raechel Lindsay, and Kaylee Slattery.

In the circle, Robinson earned the win, pitching 2.2 innings and allowing just one hit and one earned run while striking out four. Slattery entered in relief to slam the door, tossing 1.1 hitless innings and striking out three of the six batters she faced. Despite a few defensive miscues that allowed Bremen to scratch across unearned runs, the Crete-Monee pitching staff maintained total control throughout the blowout victory.
