Argo Pitching Stifles Crete-Monee Offense in 10-0 No-Hit Shutout

The Crete-Monee varsity softball team’s high-powered offense hit a sudden roadblock on Friday as host Argo tossed a five-inning no-hitter, dealing Crete-Monee a 10-0 non-conference loss in Summit.

Argo capitalized early and often, jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and breaking the game wide open with a five-run surge in the second. They added a single run in the third before closing out the contest with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth, triggering the run rule to end the game early.

Crete-Monee struggled to find a rhythm at the plate against a dominant Argo pitching performance that racked up seven strikeouts over five frames. Taleaana Ramirez and Raechel Lindsay provided the lone bright spots offensively, displaying good plate discipline to each draw a walk and account for Crete-Monee’s only baserunners of the afternoon.

Despite the difficult outing, Crete-Monee played clean defense behind starting pitcher Kaylee Slattery. The team committed zero errors on 13 total chances in the field. Slattery took the loss in the circle, tossing 4.1 innings while allowing five hits and striking out two on 86 pitches.
