Monee Township Board of Trustees Meeting | February 19, 2026

The Monee Township Board of Trustees met on Thursday, February 19, 2026, to authorize nearly $30,000 in capital expenditures for a new township generator and to approve multiple social service agreements benefiting local scholarship funds. The board, operating without the absent Trustee Deborah Burgess, unanimously passed all action items on the agenda, including a multi-year audit contract and a new commercial cleaning agreement. Additionally, local officials provided updates on robust general assistance spending, high food pantry usage, and preparations for the upcoming 2026-2027 fiscal year budget.

Budget Hearing Scheduled
The Board of Trustees unanimously approved Thursday, April 16, 2026, as the official date for this year’s Budget Hearing. The hearing will take place during a brief window from 7:00 p.m. to 7:10 p.m., immediately preceding standard township business. The scheduling motion was made by Trustee Terri L. Boles, seconded by Trustee Billy Morgan, and passed 4-0. The board also reviewed and discussed the tentative 2026-2027 budget later in the meeting.

Assessor and Attorney Updates
Township Assessor Sandra Heard reported to the board that she recently met with the Will County Executive and the Supervisor of Assessments. Heard noted that while some assessment issues were successfully resolved during the meeting, not all outstanding matters were settled. Meanwhile, Township Attorney Mario Carlasare provided a brief legal update, informing the board that a motion has been filed to dismiss all pending tax objection cases, but the township is still waiting for those motions to be heard in court.

Clerk and Election Reminders
Monee Township Clerk Bobby Lathan provided a brief report reminding the board and the public that the upcoming Primary Election is scheduled for Tuesday, March 17. Additionally, Lathan confirmed that the required Statement of Economic Interest list has been officially filed with the Will County Clerk’s Office, and township officials should monitor their email for individual filing instructions.

Memberships and Dues Approved
The board quickly dispatched standard administrative renewals, unanimously approving the payment of the 2026 Illinois Township Senior Services Association (ITSSA) membership dues for $75.00. The motion was made by Trustee Boles and seconded by Trustee Morgan. Immediately following, the board approved the payment of the 2026-2027 Township Clerk Annual Dues for $35.00, motioned by Trustee James W. Young and seconded by Trustee Boles. Both measures passed 4-0.
