The Will County Board on Thursday, March 19, 2026, greenlit a multi-million-dollar slate of public works contracts aimed at upgrading rural bridges, accommodating industrial growth, and maintaining existing infrastructure across the county.

Operating through its consent agenda, the board unanimously approved Resolution #26-078, awarding a contract to Coal City-based “D” Construction, Inc. at a total cost of $1,596,116.16. The project entails the complete removal of the existing bridge on Scheer Road over Forked Creek in Green Garden Township. The board also approved Resolution #26-084, authorizing a construction agreement with Northern Builders for improvements on Laraway Road from Cherry Hill Road to Nelson Road in New Lenox. The $959,625 project will widen the existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane roadway with a center barrier median to accommodate a new commercial warehousing development. The improvements will also include modernization of traffic signals at the intersection of Gougar Road.

In preparation for future road expansions, the board authorized several professional services agreements for right-of-way acquisitions. This included Resolution #26-079, a $353,650 contract with Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick, Inc. to secure appraisals and negotiations for 43 parcels along Weber Road from Airport Road to 135th Street.

Additionally, the board approved Resolution #26-076, awarding a $317,671 contract to Northern Contracting, Inc. for countywide guardrail maintenance, funded via Motor Fuel Tax funds.
