During their regular meeting on Thursday, February 19, 2026, the Peotone Public Library District Board of Trustees announced an open vacancy on the board and approved several personnel moves, including a staff promotion and new job descriptions.

With one vacancy currently open on the PPLD Board of Trustees, the district is moving forward with a search for a replacement. Advertisements for the vacancy will be posted on the library’s website and physically at the library. Any interested community members must fill out an application and submit it directly to Library Director Sarah Ehlers.

Trustee Mary Jane Carlson moved to approve interviewing applicants at the next scheduled board meeting on March 19, 2026. The motion was seconded by Vice-President Jean Oliver and passed unanimously, 5-0.

Following the regular agenda items, the board entered a closed session at 7:40 p.m. to discuss specific employee matters. The regular meeting was reopened at 7:59 p.m., at which point Trustee S. Dascenzo moved to approve the promotion of Anthony J. Kuzma to the role of Marketing & Technology Coordinator, effective March 1, 2026. Trustee Carlson seconded the motion, which passed 5-0.

Earlier in the meeting, the board also reviewed and formalized other staff roles. Following a brief discussion, Vice-President Oliver motioned to approve the official job descriptions for the Head of Circulation and the Maintenance Engineer. The motion was seconded by Trustee Dascenzo and passed 5-0. The board also held a preliminary discussion regarding the Marketing & Outreach/Adult Services Assistant position, though no formal action was taken on that specific role prior to the closed session.
