The Crete-Monee School Board on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, took time to celebrate the overwhelming success of the recent Show Choir Spectacular.
Board Member William Sawallisch reported that the event hosted 18 teams and saw the highest attendance numbers ever recorded for the competition. “Our kids are completely amazing,” Sawallisch said. “The fact that the time that they spend during the week… and then their competition season starts.”
Sawallisch thanked the food service staff, security, custodial teams, and administration for ensuring the massive event ran smoothly.
Board Secretary Jamie Zite-Stumbris praised Sawallisch’s leadership in organizing the event. “He throws a fantastic gig,” she said. “Everything from the food to making sure the Wi-Fi was getting people in… he just was in there fixing everything.”
Zite-Stumbris also highlighted the dedication of the choir directors and students. “The amount of time they put in, it’s incredible,” she said.
The group is set to perform at the eighth-grade open house tonight and will begin their official competition season this Saturday in Manteno.
