MONEE – Trustee Scott Youdris provided a public safety report during the Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, village board meeting, alerting residents to a recent string of vehicle crimes.
Between Jan. 20 and Jan. 23, the Monee Police Department took three reports of burglary to motor vehicles. Youdris stated that in all three instances, offenders made forced entry into Dodge and Jeep vehicles. While it appeared the offenders were attempting to steal the automobiles, they were unsuccessful.
“Investigators have reviewed surveillance video and have submitted evidence to the Illinois State Police Division of Forensic Services for analysis,” Youdris said. He reminded residents that the police department has a stock of steering wheel locks available free of cost.
Earlier in the meeting, Mayor Dr. Therese M. Bogs honored resident Sue Cash for her fundraising efforts on behalf of the police department’s K9 unit. Cash, an instructor in yoga for first responders, raised enough funds to purchase protective vests for three area police dogs, including one for Monee K9 officer Cap.
“You lead by example and you follow your heart with action,” Mayor Bogs told Cash during the presentation.
