Monee Village Board Meeting | January 14, 2026

The Monee Village Board of Trustees met on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, for its first regular meeting of the new year. In addition to approving hotel renovations and energy agreements, the Board swore in a new police officer, bringing the department to full staffing levels for the first time in five years. The meeting also featured updates on major infrastructure projects and upcoming business openings.

New Police Officer Sworn In:
Officer Colton Peterson was sworn in as the newest member of the Monee Police Department. Trustee Scott Youdris noted that with Peterson’s hiring, the department has reached its authorized headcount of 26 officers for the first time in five years. Youdris stated that proactive policing is increasing and violent crime continues to drop.

Historical Society Year in Review:
Billy Morgan of the Monee Historical Society presented a 2025 year-in-review, highlighting the unveiling of the Marie Bailey statue and increased attendance at events like “Mrs. First’s Tea.” Morgan noted the organization is restructuring with a new executive director and is committed to taking on more building operating costs to save taxpayers money.

Tractor Supply Opening Date:
Trustee Michael Wilson announced that the new Tractor Supply Co. store is scheduled for a soft opening on March 21, 2026. A grand opening event will follow approximately one week later. The Board also approved a plat of easement agreement to facilitate the opening.

Voortman Steel Expansion:
Global manufacturer Voortman Steel is on track to move into its new 120,000-square-foot office and manufacturing plant on Ridgeland Avenue by April, according to Trustee Wilson.

Internet Expansion Update:
Trustee Doug Horne reported that Pavlov Media has begun installing internet service to village buildings. To date, 85 residents have signed up for the new fiber network service.

Infrastructure Project Payouts:
The Board approved significant payments for completed infrastructure work. Earthwerks Land Improvement received $296,121.17 for the substantially completed McCorkle Pond bank restoration. Iroquois Paving Corporation received a final payout of $271,022.01 for the Ridgeland/Bruns Road water main project, which was partially funded by a $500,000 grant.
