Public Works Facility and Firemen’s Park Set for Grand Openings

The Monee Village Board on Tuesday, September 24, 2025, announced the completion of two major village projects and authorized final construction payments.

Trustee Doug Horne announced that the new Department of Public Works building at 5755 W. Industrial Drive is ready for the public. A grand opening and tour are scheduled for Saturday, October 11.

“This is a proud moment for our community,” Horne said. “Whether you are curious about infrastructure or just want to see how your tax dollars are at work, we would love to have you there.”

Concurrently, the board approved a pay request of $507,266.25 to Professional Building Services to settle costs for the facility.

Parks and Recreation Director Dianna Kroll’s report, read by Trustee Heidi Gonzalez’s notes, highlighted the completion of Phase 1 of Firemen’s Park. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for September 30. The renovations include a new football/soccer field, sand volleyball courts, a concession stand, and a fireman-themed playground with ADA-compliant wheelchair access.

The event will also feature the dedication of a new Pet Micro Pantry in honor of Dr. Lynlee Wessels. The board approved a payment of $78,430.33 to Crockett Construction for work on the park.
