Article Summary:

The Peotone Public Library District is planning a community survey this fall to gather public input on its future, with a focus on improving services to Monee and other parts of the district. A library committee has also discussed innovative ideas like self-service book lockers and a bookmobile to enhance accessibility.

Library Outreach Plan Key Points:

  • A community survey is planned for this fall to gather resident feedback.

  • The library may partner with the Monee Park District to distribute the survey in its September mailer.

  • The committee discussed alternative services, including self-service book pick-up lockers in Monee and a bookmobile or van.

As the Peotone Public Library District weighs major decisions about its buildings, it is preparing to launch a public outreach campaign to ensure resident feedback is part of the process.

The library’s Special Buildings Committee is formulating a community survey to be distributed this fall. According to committee minutes, the library hopes to include the survey in the Monee Park District’s September mailer. To encourage participation, the committee plans to offer respondents a chance to win a $100 Amazon gift card.

The survey aims to build awareness of the library’s services, particularly in Monee, and gather opinions on the district’s future.

In addition to the survey, the committee is exploring more immediate and non-traditional ways to serve the community. Among the ideas discussed were installing self-service book lockers in Monee, which would allow for convenient book pick-ups, and launching a bookmobile or van to bring library services directly to different neighborhoods within the large district.

The committee will also investigate using Facebook advertising this fall to further boost community engagement.
