Public Works Building Progress: The village approved pay request #12 for $1,287,408.50 for the new public works building construction. The facility is nearing completion with a projected move-in date of early August. The building will include training facilities available to other municipalities, creating revenue opportunities for the village.

Equipment Donation: Trustees approved donating a 1999 International dump truck to the Village of Crete’s Department of Public Works. The 26-year-old vehicle, valued at $2,500, is no longer safe due to rust and corrosion, but Crete can use salvageable parts to maintain their fleet.

Park Project Payment: The board approved pay request #3 for $45,309.24 to Crockett Construction for the Marie LeFevre Bailly Park project, with completion expected in early August.

Economic Development Updates: Subway will hold its grand opening July 2 in Lamellis Plaza on Monee-Manhattan Road. Tractor Supply has begun construction in the town center as the first of several planned retailers.

Solar Farm Ordinance: Village Attorney Larry Kosman presented a comprehensive solar farm ordinance requiring 150-foot setbacks from residences, financial surety for decommissioning, and extensive screening requirements. The ordinance addresses a company seeking to develop solar facilities near Monee.

TIF District Expansion: The board approved scheduling a public hearing for August 27 to consider expanding Tax Increment Financing District #5, with a joint review board meeting set for July 25.

Firearm Ordinance: Discussion began on amending the village’s firearm discharge ordinance to accommodate the planned Sheep Dog indoor gun range while maintaining public safety restrictions.
